MODU: life-size building toys your child can climb, ride and rock on
MODU is a soft foam building system of blocks, pegs and wheels that children turn into real, ride-on, climb-on toys. One set becomes a rocker today, a scooter next month and a balance beam after that. As the official GCC distributor, Klug stocks the full MODU range of toys in the UAE, ready to ship or to try in our Al Quoz store in Dubai.
The basics
What is MODU?
MODU is an age-adapting construction system made of just three parts: big lightweight foam blocks, connector pegs and wheels. There are no instructions to follow to the letter and no single right answer. Children snap the pieces together to build life-size toys they can actually sit on, push, wobble and ride, then pull them apart and start again.
Designed in Denmark and made in Europe, MODU is built around one idea: a toy should keep pace with a growing child instead of being outgrown in a season. It sits naturally alongside other Montessori-aligned, open-ended toys because the play is child-led, hands-on and different every time.
- Three simple parts: foam blocks, pegs and wheels
- No screws, no glue, no tools needed
- One set builds many different toys
How MODU supports your child's development
Because a MODU creation is large enough to climb on and heavy play is part of the point, children get physical and thinking practice in the same session. Parents often buy it for the movement and are surprised by how much problem-solving comes with it.
Physical and gross motor skills
Climbing on a homemade slide, balancing on a beam or rocking on a horse builds core strength, coordination and a sense of movement. It is active play that burns real energy.
Thinking and problem-solving
Working out how to make a structure stand up, hold weight and roll is early engineering. The same instinct that draws children to STEM toys is at work every time they rebuild a wobbly ride-on.
Imagination and open-ended play
A block is a seat, a wheel, a wall or a rocket depending on the story. With nothing prescribed, children invent, negotiate with siblings and keep changing their minds, which is where creativity grows.
How MODU differs from regular building toys
Tabletop construction toys, from wooden blocks to magnetic building sets, are wonderful for fine motor skills and quiet focus. MODU plays in a different space: it is whole-body, floor-scale building for children who need to move.
- Small pieces for building on a table
- Fixed size, often outgrown within a year or two
- Sit-still play rather than physical movement
- Built to be looked at, not sat on or ridden
- Life-size pieces for floor-scale, active building
- Age-adapting from first steps to preschool and beyond
- Movement built in: rock, ride, climb and balance
- Sturdy enough for a child to sit and play on
The MODU sets: which kit is right for your child
Every MODU set uses the same blocks, pegs and wheels, so the choice comes down to how many pieces you want and how many creations you can build at once. Bigger sets mean more blocks, more variety and easier sharing between siblings. Here is how the three building sets compare.
| Set | Curiosity | Explorer | Dreamer |

Choosing by age, interest and budget
Start with age and space
For a baby taking first steps or a small apartment, the Curiosity set covers walkers, rockers and simple ride-ons without taking over the room. For a busy preschooler, more blocks mean bigger builds.
Match their interests
If your child loves speed, prioritise wheels for cars and scooters. If they climb everything, the larger sets build slides, steps and balance challenges. Add-on wheels and half balls extend any set later.
Think about budget over time
A MODU set is one purchase that keeps changing for years, so the cost spreads across many stages. Many families start with Curiosity or Explorer and expand, while gift buyers often choose the flagship Dreamer set.
What you can build
The included booklet gets you started, and the MODU community shares endless variations. A few favourites families come back to again and again:
Ride-ons and scooters
Add wheels to build race cars, scooters and push-alongs. A firm favourite for fast toddlers practising balance and movement.
Rockers and balance boards
Classic rocking horses and wobble boards challenge core stability and coordination, one of the earliest gross motor wins.
Slides, steps and furniture
Build a little slide, a set of steps, a play kitchen or a child-size chair. The same pieces become useful furniture between games.
Peace of mind

Made for UAE homes
MODU toys for active indoor play in the UAE
For much of the year the heat keeps play indoors, and apartment living leaves limited room for big plastic ride-ons that only do one thing. MODU answers both. It packs down small, works on any floor and turns a corner of the living room into a climbing, riding, balancing space that changes with your child's mood.
It is a screen-free way to burn energy on a hot Dubai afternoon, and a genuine first ride-on for the youngest builders, which is why it fits so well among our toys for babies and toddlers. Schools, nurseries and therapists across the UAE use MODU too: ask us about our wholesale and partner program for bulk and institutional orders.
See MODU in action

- Ideas you can copy at home
Loved by families and educators
“The only toy my two-year-old and five-year-old play with together without a fight. It has survived a year of daily use.”
“Perfect for our small flat. We pack it away in seconds and it comes out again as something new every week.”
“We use MODU in our nursery for gross motor sessions. Easy to clean and the children never build the same thing twice.”
Frequently asked questions
What age is MODU for?
MODU is designed for children from 0 to 6 years. Babies start with simple walkers and rockers built by a parent, and as fine and gross motor skills develop, children build and rebuild for themselves. The same set stays relevant for years, which is what makes it age-adapting rather than age-specific.
Does it need assembly or any tools?
No tools are needed. You connect the foam blocks with the pegs and push on the wheels by hand. Younger children build with a grown-up at first, then take over as they get the hang of it. Taking a creation apart to build the next one is part of the play.
How do I clean and maintain MODU?
The surfaces resist marks and wipe clean with warm water and mild soap. For a deeper clean you can run the blocks through a short, energy-saving dishwasher cycle. The blocks even float, so they double as bath toys. If water gets inside the pegs, let them dry fully on a towel before storing.
Are the different MODU sets compatible with each other?
Yes. Every set uses the same blocks, pegs and wheels, so anything you own works together. You can start small and add another set or extra parts such as wheels and half balls later to unlock bigger and more complex creations.
Which MODU set should I choose?
For a first set, a baby or a compact home, the Curiosity set is a comfortable start. The Explorer set adds blocks and pegs for more variety, and the Dreamer set is the flagship with the most pieces and 25+ possible creations, ideal for siblings or as a standout gift. All three suit boys and girls aged 0 to 6.
Is MODU safe and non-toxic?
MODU meets the EN71 and CE toy safety standards. The blocks are made from EPP foam that is free of harmful chemicals, and the connector pegs use non-toxic, food-grade ABS. Every MODU product at Klug goes through the same non-toxic, child-safe vetting we apply across our range.
Do you deliver MODU across the UAE?
Yes. As the official GCC distributor, Klug ships MODU across the UAE and the wider GCC, with worldwide delivery available. You are also welcome to see and try MODU in person at our store in Al Quoz, Dubai before you buy.
